David de Gea: This is what I think about Jose Mourinho and Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Man Utd

DAVID DE GEA reckons the summer arrivals of Jose Mourinho and Zlatan Ibrahimovic can transform Manchester United into title contenders once again.

The Red Devils have struggled to replicate the trophy-laden success of Sir Alex Ferguson, with David Moyes and Louis van Gaal failing to fulfil the club’s huge expectations.
To combat this United moved for Jose Mourinho, who has already made three marquee signings in the form of Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic - with Paul Pogba strongly linked with a return to Old Trafford too.

And De Gea insists the arrival of Mourinho and these exciting new signings have laid the foundations for a new era at Old Trafford.

Asked if United are capable of challenging for the Premier League this term, De Gea said: “Of course, of course. I think we signed top players, really good players. We are Manchester United and we want to fight for everything.

“I feel for the fans, for the club and the players (that something exciting is coming) – you feel like (it is) a new era. I think the club is really strong now. The players, we want to win everything and hopefully we can do it.”
Mourinho, 53, has a wealth of experience in management, winning a plethora of trophies in his time at Porto, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and most recently Chelsea.
And De Gea believes that his proven track record will continue at strengthen at Old Trafford.
“He is a strong character,” said De Gea speaking at the launch of United’s new Adidas home kit in Shanghai.
