The 35-year-old will be assigned a club soon, with Akwa United, Ifeanyi Ubah FC, Kano Pillars and Wikki Tourists all said to have registered interest in the former Everton defender.

Should this happen, Yobo will join the NPFL under the Elite Players Scheme that seeks to assign players of international repute to Nigerian club sides in a bid to further improve the quality of the league.

The scheme is to ensure that elite players bring star quality that will bring fans to stadia during their shortstints.
