Italian midfield maestro Marco Verratti will sign a new contract with French giants Paris Saint-Germain that will see him earn an incredible 12 million Euro per year, according to Journal du Dimanche.

Verratti’s future at the Parc des Princes was one of the talking points of the summer up until last month, with the former Pescara star having reportedly handed in a transfer request amid intense interest from Barcelona.

Staying put

However, following the classy midfielder’s agent having claimed that Verratti was a ‘prisoner’ in the French capital, the 24-year-old issued a public apology to the fans of PSG, insisting that he is in fact thrilled to have remained with the club.
And, if this evening’s report from Journal du Dimanche is to be belived, then the 21-time capped international looks set to be plying his trade with the Ligue 1 giants for a long time to come, having seemingly agreed to a new contract that will double his wages from 6 million Euro-per-year to 12 million Euro-per-year.
Wishes granted
Sources had previously suggested that Verratti and his representatives would only commit to PSG long-term if the club agreed to sign the calibre of player that would push them towards Champions League glory over the coming seasons.
With Neymar having arrived earlier this week, and the Parisians said to be far from finished in terms of signings this summer, it looks as though the wishes of the diminutive star have been granted, giving more credence to the rumour that he has indeed agreed a new deal to remain a PSG player for the foreseeable future.
