Suspected kidnappers arrested in Lagos by Nigerian army

Seven suspected kidnappers were caught in their hideout by operatives of the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Akure, Ondo State, yesterday in Akoko area of Lagos.

The soldiers were said to have gone after the hoodlums who had their dens located in Akokoland, following reports of kidnappings, especially of travellers on Akure-Owo and Kabba-Auga-Akunnu expressways.
The Assistant Director of the Nigeria Army Public Relations, Captain Ojo Adelegan, said the activities of the kidnappers in the area informed the action of the army, which sent its men to comb the forests where the suspected kidnappers allegedly kept their victims.
Adelegan said the suspects, whose identities were not disclosed, were kidnappers and their informants.

He said, “The Commander, 32 Artillery Brigade, Brig. Gen. James Ataguba, personally led the brigade troops for the special operation to comb the kidnappers’ spots in the Akoko area of Ondo State.
“The commander and his troops raided and thoroughly searched various kidnappers’ camps in the bushes at the boundary between Kogi and Ondo states in Akunu Akoko, Ohogo and Ogale communities.
“The operation is aimed at checkmating the incessant kidnapping in the Akoko area of Ondo State.”
