    Oscar Pistorius Jail Term Increased

Oscar Pistorius's jail term for killing girlfriend
Reeva Steenkamp has been increased to 13 years and five months by a South African court.

The 31-year-old former Paralympic athlete shot Steenkamp dead on Valentine's Day in 2013, claiming that he had mistaken her for an intruder in his bathroom.
Pistorius was originally given five years for manslaughter in his initial trial, but an appeal in 2015 found him to be guilty of murder.
The new murder sentence came with a six-year jail term but now the Supreme Court of Appeal in South Africa has described the length of his conviction as "shockingly lenient".

The court instead issued Pistorius with the minimum 15-year sentence for the crime, reducing it to 13 years and five months to account for the time he has already been incarcerated.
Last year Pistorius denied reports that he had attempted to end his own life while in jail.
