Exodus 23:16-17 says: “Celebrate the feast of Harvest with the firstfruits of the crops you sow in. Celebrate the feast of in-gathering at the end of the year, when you gather crops from your field…” Therefore, harvest is akin to the celebration of first fruits from the farmland and the gathering of the crops at the end of the year. The proceeds from the farm are sold at the end of the year. And one who tills the land makes profit from his or her labour.
The farmer plants his or her seeds and tend the farmland, nurture the seeds till they are ready for harvest. A skillful farmer becomes greater than a lazy fellow who prefers not to work or sow bountifully. The Bible explains that God requires everyone to offer their first and best produce from their farms, to earn God’s blessing. The per-son who offers the best to God will be more blessed. We could see that playing out in the life of two brothers, Cain and Abel. One was a farmer and the other, a shepherd. They both offered their first fruit to God but Abel’s own was accepted onto God and Cain’s was rejected. Cain was furious and started plotting against Abel, so that God’s blessing would not be mani-fested in Abel’s life. Eventually, he killed Abel (Exodus 4:8).
Sometime it is relevant that when we talk about light, we should also talk about darkness. The Lord says I am the light and at the same time I live in brim of darkness. The question is; did Abel receive the blessing? The answer is NO. Abel’s offering accepted but his prayers were not heard. Cain should have been prevented from executing his plot. God has the power to stop the plot, but it is evident that He watched the situation until Cain executed his evil plan against Abel.
Similarly, God’s response to Daniel’s prayer and request was withheld for 21 days by the principalities of the world, who withstood Angel Gabriel until Archangel Michael came to his rescue. I pray that at the time you will reap the fruit of your labour, nothing will hinder the manifestation, in the name of Jesus. Even Jesus Christ recognised the power of darkness when he was about to be arrested in Luke 22:53 “ Every day I was with you in the temple courts, and you did not lay a hand on me. But this is your hour when darkness reigns.”
Some time ago a woman lost her three children, who came from abroad, in a ghastly accident on their way to attend a social event in Akure. The cause of the calamity that befell the woman was later revealed to me in the realm of the spirit. According to the revelation, the harvest of the woman had stains and therefore not good enough. How painful all she had laboured for perished just at time she was supposed to start harvesting the gains.
