It is with deep sense of joy and responsibility that I the President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ambassador Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, the number one youth citizen of this great country, heartily felicitates with the entire youths of Nigeria on the auspicious occasion of the 2018 International Youth Day.
The 2018 International Youth Day with the theme “Safe Spaces for Youths” underscores the need for all tiers of government in Nigeria and the private sector to create safe spaces for the youths in governance, employment opportunities and technological advancement amongst others.
I express profound gratitude to the Governors of the 36 States of the Federation for their unrelenting and untiring efforts towards youth development.
I particularly thank the governments of Rivers, Kano, Cross River, Edo, Anambra, Abia, Lagos, Oyo and Ogun States for supporting the youths of the various states to mark this year’s youth International Youth Day.
As the 2019 General Election in Nigeria draws near it is pertinent to reiterate that the National Youth Council of Nigeria under my leadership remains apolitical.
In the spirit fairness and equity I urge all political parties in Nigeria to give youths opportunity to vie for elective positions in the forthcoming General Election.
It is worthy to note that this year’s celebration of the International Youth Day comes amidst the conferment of international prestigious honour on five Anambra State School Girls who won Gold Medal for displaying great creativity and innovation by developing an application to detect fake drug at the World Technovation Challenge in the U.S.
I wish all Nigerian youths and all tiers of governments safe celebration of this year’s International Youth Day .
Long live the Youths of Nigeria!
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!!
Ambassador Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria
